As we’ve written about before, the European Union’s (EU) introduction of Digital Product Passports (DPPs), is a transformative initiative set to revolutionize supply chains worldwide. The need for businesses to prepare and adapt cannot be underestimated. Those failing to seize this window of opportunity risk facing a frantic scramble to comply with impending regulations. Given EU Member State customs will likely prohibit the import of any non-compliant product, this could very well result in significant penalties including fines.

On March 6, 2024, the Securities and Exchange Commission adopted final rules to require registrants to disclose certain climate-related information in registration statements and annual reports. The Commission proposed the rules on March 21, 2022. The public comment file is available online.

After all, DPPs will be introduced to help businesses meet strict policies and regulations set by the EU with the goal of accomplishing net zero emissions by 2050.
