Charming Trim, a leading provider of ecologically conscious apparel trim and packaging, is proud to be a sponsor of the American Apparel & Footwear Association's (AAFA) 2024 Products and Compliance Seminar on February 14 - 15, 2024, in  Long Beach, CA.

“Charming has always been at the forefront of advocating for safe and certified environmentally friendly products,” said Rich Ringeisen, president of Charming Trim. He continued, “We are delighted to support AAFA in its work to establish honest guidelines and to support members in utilizing alternatives per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in all products.”

Chelsea Murtha, the Senior Director of Sustainability for the AAFA, has emphasized the importance of ensuring compliance with emerging state legislative and regulatory initiatives to address PFAS in consumer products. As more and more initiatives come into effect, apparel and footwear brands and retailers must ensure that their product packaging and labels are fully compliant with all requirements. The focus is not only on the products themselves but also on the packaging and labels, which should be free of intentionally added PFAS.

One key aspect that will be discussed at the conference is the need for caution in advertising efforts to reformulate products. Labels claiming "PFAS free" may be misleading to consumers, as even the most rigorous practices cannot fully prevent unintentional contamination. This cautionary note underscores the challenges faced by brands and retailers in navigating the evolving landscape of PFAS regulations.

Charming wants to reassure our partners and customers that it has never intentionally added any PFAS to ANY of our products. We are committed to working diligently to ensure that PFAS does not slip into our supply chain. Our dedication to sustainability and ethical practices remains unwavering, and we continue to prioritize the delivery of ecologically conscious apparel trim and packaging.

As a sponsor of the AAFA’s 2024 Product Safety & Compliance Seminar, we look forward to engaging with industry leaders, sharing insights, and collectively working towards a more sustainable and compliant future.

Together, we can shape a supply chain that prioritizes the well-being of our planet and consumers. We invite you to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable and responsible fashion industry.
